Types of Oil Pressing Processes & Equipment

Based on the oil mill’s production capacity, raw material oil content, and production objectives, extraction methods are typically categorized into single pressing (full pressing) and pre-pressing. KMEC offers a complete range of mechanical oil extraction equipment.

1. Single Pressing (Full Pressing)

Single pressing, often termed full pressing, is ideal for small to medium capacity oil milling plants. This method employs a single screw oil press or hydraulic oil press to mechanically extract oil in one pass. It is a purely physical process requiring no chemical treatment.

• Process & Oil Yield: This method is suitable for oilseeds with low to medium oil content. Using KMEC’s advanced single press machines, residual oil in the cake can be reduced to approximately 5-7%. For oilseeds with higher oil content, a double pressing system can be integrated to maximize oil yield.
• Advantages: The primary benefit of using a full press machine lies in producing high-quality, pure oil. Since no chemicals are involved, the extracted oil retains its natural flavor, aroma, and nutritional value, making it a healthier choice. It is ideal for producing premium cold-pressed oils.
• Oilseed Applications: KMEC’s single pressing equipment is versatile, processing a wide range of raw materials including sunflower seeds, peanuts, cottonseed, rapeseed, copra, flaxseed, soybeans, and various nuts.

2. Pre-Pressing

For large-scale, high-capacity oil mill plants, pre-pressing is the standard method, particularly suited for oilseeds with extremely high oil content (e.g., rapeseed, sunflower seeds).

Process Flow: This oil extraction process first uses a high-capacity pre-press to mechanically extract the majority of the oil (typically 60-75%). The resulting low-oil pre-pressed cake is then sent to a solvent extraction plant for final, efficient oil recovery.
