Oil Stripper — Solvent Removal Equipment for Oil Extraction Production Lines | Miscella Stripper

Oil Stripper
Oil Stripper

The oil stripper is equipment that utilizes the steam distillation principle to further remove residual solvent from evaporated miscella. Through direct contact between live steam and the miscella, it reduces the partial pressure of the solvent, causing it to vaporize and escape at lower temperatures, thereby achieving deep separation of solvent from oil.

Working Process of KMEC Oil Stripper :

  1.  Feeding : Concentrated miscella after secondary evaporation (still containing a small amount of solvent) enters from the upper part of the tower.
  2.  Steam Injection (First Stream) : The first stream of steam enters the tower body through a long threaded pipe, forming diffused steam that contacts the downward-flowing miscella.
  3.  Oil Film Formation : The miscella flows downward along the discs, forming a thin oil film during rotation, increasing the contact area with steam.
  4. Steam Distillation : The partial pressure of the solvent decreases as steam passes through, causing it to vaporize and escape, rising with the steam.
  5. Collection and Secondary Treatment : The oil film is collected by stainless steel inclined plates into the tower kettle. A second stream of live steam is injected at the bottom of the kettle to再次 remove residual solvent.
  6. Optimization via Reflux : Part of the incompletely treated oil liquid is returned to the tower body via the return pipe for continued treatment.
  7. Discharge : The desolventized high-temperature crude oil is discharged from the tower bottom and enters the oil tank.
  8. Vapor Discharge : The mixed vapor containing solvent is discharged from the tower top and enters the condenser for solvent recovery.

Features and Advantages

High Desolventizing Efficiency, Excellent Crude Oil Quality

Steam distillation principle combined with thin oil film design ensures thorough solvent removal, with residual solvent in crude oil below 500ppm, guaranteeing subsequent refining quality.

–  Two-Stage Steam Design, More Thorough Treatment

First steam stream for diffusion desolventizing, second steam stream at the kettle bottom for further treatment. Dual guarantee maximizes solvent recovery rate.

–  Stainless Steel Material, Long Service Life with Corrosion Resistance

The tower kettle uses inclined stainless steel plates. The smooth surface ensures smooth oil film flow, resists scaling, and is easy to clean and maintain.

–  Oil Film Formation Mechanism, High Mass Transfer Efficiency

The disc structure causes the miscella to form a thin oil film, significantly increasing the gas-liquid contact area and improving desolventizing efficiency.

–  Reflux Design, Optimized Treatment Effect

The conical bottom return pipe sends part of the oil liquid back to the tower for retreatment, ensuring the final crude oil meets solvent content standards.

–  Reasonable Structure, Easy Operation

Segmented tower design facilitates transportation, installation, and routine maintenance; operating parameters are stable and easy to control.

–  Energy Saving and Consumption Reduction

Utilizes steam distillation for desolventizing at lower temperatures, which is more energy-efficient than单纯 heating evaporation; the removed solvent can be condensed and recycled.

–  Wide Applicability

Suitable for various oilseed extraction processes including soybeans, rapeseed, peanuts, cottonseed, sunflower seeds, and rice bran.

–  Flexible Integration

Can be seamlessly connected with other extraction equipment (evaporators, condensers, water separators, etc.) to form a complete solvent recovery system.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: In which process step is the oil stripper mainly used?

A: It is mainly used in oil extraction production lines, positioned after the evaporator, to deeply remove residual solvent from miscella, obtaining high-concentration crude oil.

Q: What is the working principle of the oil stripper?

A: It utilizes the steam distillation principle. Through direct contact between live steam and the miscella, it reduces the partial pressure of the solvent, causing it to vaporize and escape at lower temperatures, achieving oil-solvent separation.

Q: Why is an oil stripper needed? Isn’t an evaporator alone sufficient?

A: An evaporator can only remove most of the solvent, but the residual solvent (2%-5%) is difficult to remove by heating alone. The oil stripper, through steam distillation, can reduce residual solvent to below 500ppm, ensuring crude oil quality and solvent recovery rate.

Q: What material is the equipment made of?

A: Key components (tower kettle, inclined plates, discs, steam pipes, etc.) are made of stainless steel, offering corrosion resistance, smooth surfaces resistant to scaling, and ease of cleaning.

Q: How is the steam used?

A: A two-stage steam design is adopted: the first stream is injected from the upper part to form diffusion steam; the second stream is live steam injected from the bottom of the tower kettle for further desolventizing, providing a dual guarantee.

Q: What is the solvent content index of the crude oil after desolventizing?

A: Under normal operating conditions, it can be stably controlled below 500ppm. Lower指标 can be designed according to customer requirements.

Q: Is the equipment complicated to operate?

A: Operation is simple. The main controls are steam volume, temperature, and pressure. Once parameters stabilize, it can run automatically.

 Q: Can it be customized?

A: Yes. Tower dimensions, heat exchange area, interface methods, and processing capacity can all be customized according to customer production capacity and process requirements.

Q: How is the equipment cleaned and maintained?

A: The stainless steel material is smooth and resistant to scaling; regularly inspect steam pipelines and discs, and clean them when necessary.

Q: What external equipment is needed for integration?

A: Typically, it needs to be used in conjunction with evaporators, condensers, solvent tanks, intermediate oil tanks, steam control systems, etc.
