Soybean Oil Processing Plant & Extraction Machine Manufacturer
Soybean Oil Processing Plant & Extraction Machine Manufacturer
Soybean oil is one of the most widely produced and consumed edible oils worldwide. Extracting oil from soybeans can be done through chemical solvent extraction or mechanical pressing. In solvent extraction—often using food-grade hexane—the oil yield reaches about 19%, with residual oil in meal around 1%. Mechanical pressing, while more natural, typically yields up to 13% oil, leaving about 7% oil in the cake.
At KMEC, we design and manufacture advanced soybean oil processing plants and soybean oil extraction machines using high-quality equipment and innovative technology to maximize efficiency, yield, and oil purity.

Soybean Oil Processing Steps
A modern soybean oil plant is a specialized form of seed processing facility. Producing high-quality edible soybean oil involves multiple stages and a range of specialized soybean oil processing machinery:
1. Seed Handling & Preparation
Soybeans are cleaned, dried, and dehulled. Removing hulls is essential, as they absorb oil and reduce yield. Dehulling involves cracking and mechanically separating hulls from beans. Magnets remove metallic impurities, and beans are heated to approximately 75°C to coagulate protein for easier oil extraction.
2. Flaking & Extraction
Prepared beans are flaked to increase surface area, then processed in a solvent extraction plant. In percolation extractors, flakes are immersed in hexane. After extraction, hexane is evaporated and recovered for reuse. The resulting flakes contain only about 1% residual oil and are used for animal feed or soy protein products.
3. Oil Refining
Crude soybean oil contains phospholipids, free fatty acids (FFA), pigments, and odors. Oil refining is essential to make it edible and stable. The process includes:
- Degumming – removes phosphatides
- Neutralization (Alkali Refining) – eliminates FFA, gums, and some colorants
- Bleaching – uses activated clay or carbon to remove pigments and impurities
- Deodorization – steam distillation removes volatile compounds and odors

Benefits of Soybean Oil
Soybean oil is light in flavor and versatile for cooking, frying, and food manufacturing. According to the National Soybean Research Laboratory, it contains about 60% polyunsaturated fat and 24% monounsaturated fat, making it a heart-healthy choice rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
